Marriage isn't just a civil right, it's also very much a religious union, so I can see why those who oppose it feel that it desecrates their religions. Eventually, civil unions with the same legal implications as marriage will be the norm, and only those wishing to add the religious aspects will seek marriages.
In the mean time, the Republicans will continue to use this and other wedge issues as distractions every election cycle.

I believe people have trouble using the word marriage for the alternative lifestyle folks. I can see using 'civil union' that would allow gay couples the rights afforded by marriage. I do not believe it is fair to leave them with no alternative.
Also, who is to say what is right and wrong when it comes to a relationship between two people. I am a christian but I do not believe that a person just because they are gay will burn in hell. That's ridiculous! Deal with your own life and let them live theirs.

I really think that it should be legalized. I'm not gay but I have a lot of friends that are. And while marriage is silly in that all it really is is the "legalization" of a partnership... I think that gay couples are as entitled to it as straight people are.

No.
There is no such thing as "gay" marriage. A homosexual relationship is nothing but a sin.
It is impossible to "love" a person, by agreeing to partake of a sinful relationship. True love: to do that which is in the best interest of another person. Sinning against God and man is not in anyone's best interest.

nope. I believe that gays should be allowed civil union but marriage is between a man and woman only. I personally think being gay is wrong and disgusting. I wouldn't be able to handle it if one of my daughters told me she was gay. It would break my heart. Marriage is for straight persons, that's why it was created.

As far as I'm concerned, gays can marry, divorce, fight over alimony, and have gays only divorcee apartments, if they'll just shut up about being gay.

Yes, straight people screw up their lives with marriage. Why shouldn't everyone else be able to as well?
