Kinda. You can purchase enclosures that are designed for putting hard drives into and then plugging them into a USB port to make an internal hard drive into an external hard drive.

Because a DVD drive is an IDE device, the same as a hard drive, they will work in one of the enclosures. The problem is to find one that is big enought to hold the DVD drives (they are usually exactly the size of the hard drive. Or I found one where the cover of the enclosure can be removed and there is enough shape to wedge my DVD into it. Looks ungly, but it works...

So who will be the next millionaire by beginning to sell enclosures of CD and DVD drives?

Search for an IDE USB enclosure, with that you can connect an IDE drive to the enclosure, which connects to the laptop with a USB cable, doing this can allow you to connect DVD/CD drives and Hard Drives as well.

You can pick up external USB enclosures at most computer stores. They're pretty cheap.

hie, u can go for a usb to IDE external box, that comes from Rs. 300 upto Rs. 1000, but always go for a USB 2.0 version and which have a external power adapter wit it. its always better!!!
