Beck - Where It's At Lyrics
Album: Odelay

Lyrics:
There's a destination a little up the road
From the habitations and the towns we know
A place we saw the lights turn low
With the jig-saw jazz and the get-fresh flow
Pulling out jives and jamboree handouts
Two turntables and a microphone
Bottles and cans just clap your hands just clap your hands
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Where it's at!
[robot vocal effect]
I got two turntables and a microphone
Take me home in my elevator bones!
Pick yourself up off the side of the road
With your elevator bones and your whip-flash tones
Members only hyponotizers
Move through the womb like ambulance drivers
Shine your shoes with your microphone blues
Here-suits with your parachute fruits
Passing the dutchie from coast to coast
Let the man get loose while I rock the most
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Man[spoken]: 'what about those who swing both ways?
ac-dc's?
Two turntables and a microphone
Two turntables and a microphone
Two turntables and a microphone
Two turntables and a microphone
Two turntables and a microphone
Two turntables and a microphone
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Oh, dear me. making slaves at two-horse town
Girl[spoken]: 'that's beautiful, dad.'(get my microphone....)
There's a destination a little up the road
From the habitations and the towns we know
A place we saw the lights turn low
With the jig-saw jazz and the get-fresh flow
Pulling out jives and jamboree handouts
Two turntables and a microphone
Bottles and cans just clap your hands just clap your hands
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
Where it's at!
I got two turntables and a microphone
I got plastic on my mind....

If you think that's all you need to be a DJ.....

You're going to need two speakers at a minimum with speaker stands, and they should be about half the total cost you invest. You get cheap speakers, you get cheap sound. They ought to be able to handle about 130% of the wattage output of your amp so you're not distorting sound by overdriving the system for volume. (i.e. Amp puts out 250W per channel, get speakers that will handle 300W.)
You need a good wired microphone and a good wireless microphone, too.
And, unless you are plannng to work in a club that plays a specific type of music exclusively, you're going to need music of all types and genres from many years of artists hits.

I'm a Party/Corporate Picnic/Reunion/Wedding/Birthday/Event MC. I have Crown amps, Gemini Mixers, Denon Mixers and players, Pioneer back-up players, Peavey 18" Bass & Horns and over 7000 tunes that I carry on CD.

You'll find that DJ's are leaning towards Laptops to do shows these days. That's cool until Windows crashes, then you'd better have a backup plan. There are a lot of PC based DJ software packages and systems available.

connect the turntables to the mixer and then feed the amp, once tha amp dose its job send it to your speakers so you can hear it. ( just a hint get another matching speaker nobody will hire a ghetto DJ with one)

with cables

The tables go into the mixer. That goes into the amp and then the speakers... I think.
