If you are tight on time, then I strongly recommend you take the plane. It is only a 45 minute flight so it makes life a lot easier. The cost is around L.E800 per person one way, which is around $120. Make sure you book ahead of time because the demand is huge and do confirm your flight a couple of days before the departure date.

Forget taxi and busy, the drive is too long. Around 7 hours. If you are on a tight budget then it is better to take the bus, should be around L.E200 = $22

flight will take 45min, but i think it will not be easy to find place as you want to have it one day(p.s. all the prices you have u take in your mind as an average able to be more on real, never to be less) about the car witch I'm so sure u can arrange it very easy, it will cost nearly the same price of the flight around 130 US$ (if it is only for 1 person, half flight cost if you are 2 persons), bus will cost you less, but it take so long hours specially bus have to make more than 5 stops 20min minimum per each stop,so it adds more hours to your trip!!!! in the case of the car(taxi) u should move from sharm early in the morning (around 2am)so u arrive Cairo around 8 or 9am... with bus or flight, you have to check the time table for departure before you take final decide about this day... wish you nice vacation and have a comfortable trip to Cairo.. (you will have better information due your stays in sharm as all people will help you to make up your mind) good luck

1. Avoid trips like this when it's hot. buses are air-conditioned, but you will not enjoy walking in Cairo, let alone the open desert around the pyramids.

2. If you do go, there are 2 bus companies from Sharm to Cairo: "superjet" and "east delta". superjet is a bit more expensive than the ED, but much better. It takes 6 hours to the ourskirts on Cairo, but assuming you'll be going to the central station, add another hour or so (depends on the time of travel, you might catch a rush hour at around 6pm). do not bother with the taxi - too expensive, but won't be much faster - the bus stops only once for about 10 mins and travels fast.

3. there is a bus to the pyramids from that egyptian museum in Cairo, costs nothing (about 20p). the numbers are 355, 357 (if not changed since february), but they are likely to be in arabic, if stuck, ask the locals, they'll love to help.

4. If you change your mind about Cairo, there are plenty trips from Cairo, like seeing the dawn at Mount Sinai, trips to the desert with camels, etc, etc - they will be much less stressful.

Sharm el-Sheikh could be the Sinai Peninsula's important tourism heart and one of the world's prime fishing locations and today you may get there your holiday with assistance from this place hotelbye . Sharm el Sheikh is one of Egypt's most readily useful places in the event that you only want to calm down on the beach, and it is a chosen by household trips because of the exceptional services on offer. Whether you're here for the mud or the fish life, Sharm el-Sheikh is a superb choice for a beach separate after exploring the temples and tombs in the rest of the country. ........Yep, I did it a few years ago. The bus takes around 6 hours 1 way. Then around 1 hour to the Pyramids and about 5 minutes to look at them. Believe me once you've been in one you've seen it all. However, you are missing out on the best part by not going to the museum, this is fantastic and so interesting.
My advice would be to take the Bus and stay over night. So go to the Pyramids, and a trip up the Nile the first day. Sleep overnight, get up early and go to the museum and then travel back in the early evening, then you would have seen pretty much all that's worth seeing in Cairo. Oh by the way, doing it this way and travelling with the locals costs around £3 single bus journey and great fun. Have fun

When I was there I took a nice air conditioned bus. Don't remember how long it took and I'm sure the prices are different now as it has been several years. My thought is 'Why leave the beach?'

Try asking your dive master or hotel consierge. Good luck.
