Some of them are, I agree, totally oversensitive.
The whole cartoons thing started because a right wing paper in Denmark thought "those guys are completely nuts, look if you print anyhting against them....." I have to say that burning down an embassy rather proves the paper's point!
Iran tried to make a reverse point - that the rest of the world had its things that you couldn't say. So they did cartoons of the Holocaust. And just to prove there point we burned down an embassy! Only we didn't, nobody burnt, nobody assaulted, nobody threatened. People wrote some jolly stiff articles about it - and that's it.
Islam has to stop this paranoia and stop trying to limit discussion. We do not have to follow the religion. We claim our freedom to follow and proclaim any religion or none.
Now the proclamation of any religion is a denial of validity of Islam. Just as saying "I am a Muslim" denies the divinty of Christ. Its no use saying "he's a prophet", it won't do. To say "I am a Muslim" denies a central tenet of the Christian faith.
Similarly to say "I am a Christian" denies ANY validity to the status of Mohamed. Mohamed either was, or was not, a prophet. The mere statement "I am a Christian" entails a denial of ANY status to Mohamed whatsoever.
Yes it is getting somewhere, just not anywhere nice. We are getting stuck in a world of "Us" against "them". Some of the Republican/Neo con American opinions on this site for example are much the same as the "Fundamentalist" Islamic opinions. "If you disagree with us then you are the enemy and we will destroy you".
Unfortunately these opinions then to push reasonable people into opinions such as your points 3, 4
As for "5" I would love to get all the Jihadis and NeoCons, put them on an island, let them fight each other to oblivion and the rest of us can get on with living together.

They are just crazy. It is that simple. They are a crazy group of people. They believe they have the freedom to do what ever they want, and then over a cartoon they want to kill people. They are just a crazy lot of people. I have no use for them, or their child raping prophet. Let us not forget he married a 6 year old girl. If that is the prophet, then this Allah must be the biggest joke of a god. Give a try reading the Koran, near 20% of the first two books basically say if you don't believe in Allah, then you will have the worst kind of pain and torture in the afterlife. Then the very next line it will say that he is a peace full and mercifully god. Any critical eye will show that this is a crazy bunch of people.

It is not Muslim threat everybody, but Muslims are attached everywhere, Look at Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq, Kashmir even in Iran ( if Israel and America have nuke, why not Iraq??, what guaranteed you take, America will not use nuke again, when it has used nuke already. If the pope says something wrong about our religion , we have to go crazy and so we do if the criticized person was Jesus. I suggest you look at the bloody history of Christians. The vast majority of Muslims are, (or were,) average guys who aren't too bothered about religion.
All the misguided hate that is being propagated at the moment can only turn more moderates against other religions.
Remember Mr. Menezes. A Catholic. Gunned down because he didn't fit the white British stereotype.
If I were Muslim, I'd be pretty pissed off too!

I agree with you. I hate how everyone is tarnished with the same brush. I personally don't have anything against the Muslim community, I personally had no control whats happened in the past , but we on both sides are the one that have to be careful everyday, wondering who is going to strike against who.
The way I see it, evil extremists use the Muslim religion, like people in other religions all over the world as a excuse to kill. I don't think Mohamed the Prophet would tell Muslim's to kill. That's my own opinion. But I think people in Muslim community should try to understand that. Not every single Brit or American is going to associate Muslims as a evil threat or terrorist. I know is its just evil people, not the religion.
People like the guy with the user-name me, claims they do this out frustration, because of the American troops in their country etc, and all the crap that goes on because of it, like the attacks on families etc. I get it. sadly it happens, but it happens in any country or any war. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that as a excuse. I wish as a British woman it didn't. But killing thousands of innocent people it going to solve that isn't it? It makes it worse. I wish both sides would realise that. Its a big circle that at this point will never break, if things keep on going the way it is. some Muslims now think that everyone hates them, and goes on the defencive. Give you evil looks in the street like your a piece of crap. The silly thing is you haven't done anything wrong, I personally respect all religions, I don't hate Muslims, so why do they seem to hate me? I don't get it. I respect different people have different faiths.
I don't personally mind have people wearing headscarf's etc or going to prayer etc, god I even designed Saris in my spare time as a novice fashion designer for gods sake. Although as the situation gets more sensitive, people get more sensitive about it, and people who want to cause trouble take advantage and feed bull to people on both sides and then it escalates in to something it doesn't need to be. I wake up at times wondering if we have been bombed today, as I am sure happens to families around the world involved allot. I just wish it stopped and became peaceful for everyone. I suppose that's too much to want out of humanity right now.

History tells us that Muslims have always shows tolerance while Christians have been very harsh on Jews and Muslims.
Existing waive of terrorism has political base not religious base. If a certain group uses name of Islam to get support from fellow citizens ,it is not fault of religion. Most of the misunderstanding has been caused due to our failure to handle situation after withdrawal of Russian forces from Afghanistan. America is supporting Muslims throughout the world to fight terrorism. Most of the persons affected by terrorism are Muslims.
I hope Pope has a mission and he will clarify his position. We should not speculate.

It's amazing the way you lump people into categories! As a Muslim, I always ALWAYS disagree with people who say "The Americans are so and so" because Americans are also people with different personalities and opinions...There are good Americans and bad ones, and nobody can refer to all of them as one big mindless mob. The same goes for people of other religions, nationalities and races. I certainly don't support killing ANYONE for ANY reason, and the same goes for all my friends and family, who are also Muslims.
As for being offended by any hurtful comment about our religion, nationality, race or family, then it's only human that we become sensitive about it.

You are assuming that Muslimism is a logical religion and Muslims logical people, and it appears, more and more, as if they are not.
Their over-sensitivity must work both ways. I am extremely sensitive to the footage of the World Trade Towers crumbling, killing 3000 innocent people. I think the Muslims badly need a spin-doctor or spokesperson to issue a few calming statements.
