OK
Top of the list
1. Einstein - kicked off quantum physics and relativity and changed our view of the universe.

2. Richard Feynmann. For formulating a useable version of quantum electrodynamics and much, much more.

3. Paul Dirac
For the relativistic equation for the electron so making possible alll of modern chemistry (and hence biology) .

4. John Bell
For showing how it would be possible to prove that Einsteins rejection of non-local reality was wrong.

5 George Zweig
For being the first to come up with quantum chromo-dynamics but not getting the Nobel prize he deserved.

its difficult to say who are the top five;However Some of the Scientists which have been very inovative and may have the right ideas and Answers in solving some of the 21st century physics dilemmas are as follows;

Raymond Redbourne-=on Wave dispersion

Ralph Rene =on Equivalency of electrical; and gravity Phenomena

Milton W.Monson = Gravitional Power and Magnetic power and Unification formula of Fields.

Ricardo Carezani= on Inverse Relativity Theory of Autodynamics

Thompson &J. Bourassa =on The Gforce Unification theory and Quantum Aether Dynamics

And many others too numerous to mention for their work in Physics and Quantron Theory, Astronomy & Cosmology,Microbiology ,Genetics & Medicine etc...
PLus those who wish to be anonimous.

That is a hard question.

I would like to start by saying that most (if not all) of the people the first person listed are nut jobs, not scientist. Any one who tries to promote any Aether related theory is working with ideas that have be experimental disproven. And while the attempts to unify the fundamental forces, they differ greatly with what these people propose.

As for my top five physicist(in random order):
1)Einstein he explained the photoelectric effect, special relativity, and Brownian motion (in the same year)
2)Heisenberg (uncertainty principle)
3)Feynman for his work in QED
4)Gamow for his work in the big bang theory, alpha decay, etc
5)Bethe for his work in fusion
