it depends on the circumstances. i had to have an emergency c section and they put me out. the other two i was awake and got to watch which was one of the neatest things that ive ever seen.
it takes longer to heal from a c section because it is a surgery and they do cut you open. i was up and running hours after i had my last two and i didnt see that much of a different in times to get over it from a natural birth.
its not that bad anymore. years ago, it was serious, but now, they do them every day.

I have had 2 of them. First one was 1 years ago and I was knocked out during the surgery but after ward OMG it hurt so bad, turned out the surgeon was a jerk and in a hurry to go home and did not do a good job. Mys second one was 7 years ago and I was able to be awake. I had a spinal block which numbed me from my armpits down. I did not feel pain at all I felt a pressure but it was so numb that I could not tell what they were doing at that moment. After my daughter was born I still felt nothing while they closed everything up and put me in my room and I slowly got feeling back in a few hours. The next day they wanted me to walk and I freaked out rmembering the first time but I sat up and walked just fine turns out my doctor was just awsome. When I went home theonly time it really hurt was getting out of bed in the morning after laying flat and still all night. I did not even take the pain medication I was given. Everything went very well.

If you ask me, c-sections are the way to go! It was a piece of cake! I went with the spinal block. I couldn't feel anything from my neck down. They could have cut my head off and I would have told them I was fine. Never felt a thing. The next day, I did have to get up and walk. I was a little sore, but nothing major. The next two days, I kinda' propped myself up in bed, because after laying down flat, it was hard to get back up. Almost like if you did 150 sit ups..you know, just kinda 'sore'. But, three or four days later, I could have ran in a marathon! Today, you can just BARELY see the scar!

you gonna be OK !! you can feel some discomfort and pressure during the surgery and when they actually remove the baby there is quite a bit of pressure applied but the first few moments with baby you forget all that .then after the surgery be prepared to get out of bed after about seven hours and stand for the first time . i wont lie this is painful but it gets better every day and in a couple days you will be walking !! god bless and good luck Ive had threee c-sec by the way and thre vaginal births!i just had a son six week ago !

Before you have it, you'll receive an epidural or spinal (intrethecal or subarachnoid) -- anesthesia. You will be awake for the procedure. During the procedure, you won't feel a thing. When the epidural wears off afterwards, you will be sore.
And your intestines are not removed.

I haven't had kids (thank God) but my friend just had a c-section and for real, no lie, I asked a nurse they take out your intestines to get to the baby and then fold them up and put them back in, while you're awake. That is so friggin disgusting! you are much better off trying to push the thing out. Thank god for birth control!

Its no picnic, but is bearable. Also the scar is not very noticeable, it is done just above the pubic hair line, where there is a natural line anyway, so don't worry!!!
