There are definitely already a lot of good ideas on here. Coming from someone who is constantly battling weight, let me assure you that criticizing or making her feel bad or unattractive will only hurt matters. If you can get her to start exercising with you under the guise that you don't like to do it alone, that would be great. Maybe also go grocery shopping together and try to plan healthy menus. Women that feel loved and attractive to their mate are more likely to want to be in shape!
Please don't listen to the answer that says to buy lingerie in a smaller size!!! That will only make her feel inadequate and fat!!

Why don't you try to encourage her to join you working out? Or with all the publicity on healthy foods take charge of the cooking and shopping so you can buy healthy foods. In the evening so for a walk around the block instead of watching TV or something. Whatever you do DO NOT say she is fat and you want her to loose weight, we girls do it for us not you lot. You could suggest that at Chritsmas you will have a posh work XMAS meal and you want to see her in a dress then she might start a diet to find the perfect number, it will give her something to work towards. best of luck thopugh, it's a hard one!

Don't mention it, just start 'being sweet' ie making low fat low cal dinners full of veg and preparing a filling healthy breakfast and giving her a healthy low fat lunch and a couple of low cal snacks all packed up for work. You have to be consistent and don't be ordering pizza and takeout and beers for yourself. The weight will drop off without her even noticing and you will have a hottie on your hands within 6-12months. Good luck!

Maybe you could address her extra weight as a health concern. Make sure you let her know how beautiful you think she is, and you love her no matter what she weighs. I'm sure she's aware of the fact she's heavy, so just let her know you are concerned about heart disease, diabetes, stroke, low energy levels etc. Do offer to excersise with her to show your support.

oooh thats a tough one. Maybe you could suggest you two go walking together or something to "trim the both of you up" or ask about an outfit she wore in her thinner days-"how come you dont wear that dress, shirt, etc. any more?" And she will have to acknowledge she put on the weight-and realize she wants to lose it.

Ask her to work out with you. If she doesn't like what you do, have her suggest some things. Tell her that your worried about her health, you still love her, and you want her to be around for a long time. Encourage her, don't focus on the negative.

It really depends on her personality, could she handle it if you told her? Bring it up in a way that "honey, i think both of us could stand to be in better shape, lets get back to the way we were when we first started dating", something like that. Exercise with her, eat better with her, walk with her. The key is doing it with her. I know I personally could never even think about losing weight or eating better if my boyfriend wasn't there doing the same thing with me. Good luck with however you do it!

Was she that large when married her or maybe giving birth made her put on extra pounds. Your really nice not to just blurt it out, I would just tell her that weight causes a lot of health problems that you love her and want her to stay healthy

Why don't you buy her some sex lingerie in a smaller size? When she tries it on and it doesn't fit, you can say "I'm sorry. I always thought you were a size 6 (or whatever size she was before or would be if she lost the weight). I'll return it. What size should I get?" Maybe then she will take the hint.

Ask her to go for a walk with you. Time spent together and a workout. Do it everynight and after a bit tell her she looks great
