If he is calling former clients, how is it hurting you?

Assuming Indian law is derived from English common law, defamation requires publication and untruth. Truth is a defense to a defamation claim. You also have to prove that you have a reputation to be defamed.

Then you have to prove damages: loss of income or some other pecuniary loss as a result of the defamation.

"Wrong things" is not specific enough to say much more.

Just ignore him. His friends and your former clients will soon realise he is being sensational or merely trying to gain attention. Its a psychological game. Be one up and you'll win. But never display your sense of hurt. The more you do so the more he'll enjoy the game.
Whenever you feel bad about it, think of me, I'm with you.
