The moon is closer. The closest star to the Earth is the sun but it is much further from us than the moon.

"Always aim for the moon and even if you don't reach it don't worry, cause then you'll fall among the stars" is a more accurate version of this saying. It obviously makes no sense, as the moon is much closer to us than the stars.

Maybe it should say, "Aim for the moon and you'll fall on the STAIRS". lol

The moon is the closest celestial object to the earth. The planets are next. Stars can be many light years away. A light year is the distance you would travel at the speed of light, 186,000 miles a second for one solid year. Many stars are hundreds and thousands of light years away. Could you imagine traveling at the speed of light for hundreds of years to get to a star.

Moons closer but that's not what the saying is about.
Aim high is what the saying is about.

Well geez what an easy question. Hollywood is alot closer than the Moon. Of course, if Jack Nicholson is there all bets are off!
