In uk and Europe we would call these investors a Business Angel.
Is there a different name in India for this group?

in India, they should be called Angel investors but in reality most of the times u will find local moneylenders lending money (Sahukars) asking for more returns and evading associated risks.

As far as I know they are called Angel Investors. They provide the first level of investment called Angel Fund.

Zach is right ,they are called angel investors,who were dime a dozen during the dotcom boom, but now they are hard to find.
