It was a big let down, for me i worked hard to complete my degree.
I did a tour over seas in the military so i could pay for school .
My second question is this, How do you pass English comp 2
and not speak English?
How do you pass a communications class and sound like a combination of : Ole Dirty Bastard ,Boom Hauer & Arnold Swartzeneger?
Between uncle Sam and Lehman College i should wipe my azz with my diploma.

For those of you who know what I'm talking about the value of your education & degree in the job market makes a difference: its ok to go to Homeboy university and major in sex if that's what you want I'm not knocking it but don't complain when your salary matches the kids who got 5 baby mama's
and went to night school for his (G)enerally (E)employers (D)enied

Welcome to the unfairness of life. I once served in the Navy with a medical doctor who was so bad that even the malingers wouldn't go see him. I can't imagine how he graduated college must less medical school. He "mis- diagnosed" his own broken leg (not broken) and was detached from the ship. Most colleges today don't have the backbone to enforce their own policies much less academic standards - in many schools, a dipolma just means attendance.

Yes, attended university with a lot of guys who were nothing but dumb.. absolutely dumb. A number of students pass English comp 2 but they can't speak it well. That is because they either can't gather their confidence to speak up or they just pass the exam somehow. It's the same for all other subjects. I very much appreciate your efforts that you worked hard to pay for yor schooling and all. That is great. Wish you the best!

Did you ever seen their test scores? Do you know for a fact, that they didn't work hard too? Just as in grade school and high school, their are students with learning disabilities. Most colleges offer extra help for those kind of students. So think about that the next time, you call those students dumb. Because they work hard too,. I work hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may not always get A's but I pass my classes with either a B or a C.

I believe the answer to your question is that the majority of U.S. citizens do not speak English, they speak a dialect that is incomprehensible to the English people. This is very common. Listen to an Australian, a Jamaican or a Pakistani. They all speak English but with their own dialect. In the same way, dialects vary within both Britain and in the United States. Written English and spoken English are very different. Be content to be able to express yourself in written English. In that way you will be readily understood.

Yes, I remember one senior level quantitive methods class in particular. There was this woman in my class, and the professor had drawn a rectangle with a shaded region to illustrate a point. The professor had just gotten finished saying "the shaded region represents" whatever it stood for, I really don't remember at this point. About 2 seconds later this woman raised her hand and said "The area you have colored in there, is that the shaded region?"
I also had one certain class that only met one day a week, on Thursdays. The professor had just said "we only meet on Thursdays - this is a one day a week class, and we meet for 3 hours. Someone raised their hand and actually asked why there was only class listed one day a week on the syllabus.

College is an eye opener. I met some of the smartest and dumbest people I've ever seen. Some mistakes are so stupid it requires a college education to make them.

Thanks for this question and all the answers. I was concerned that I would be taking a big risk going to University because I felt I was not intelligent enough. But from what you are all saying I think I would sail through.
