Hi. I'm a programmer. And programming in Lotus Domino Designer now. Lotus is a very big client-server platform that have its own mail server, domino server and DECS or DB2 server to connect to other relational databases. Lotus Notes is just a part of Lotus that designed for clients. You can use Notes for your email accounts and for other applications written in Lotus Domino Designer. The database of Lotus is not a relational database. It's document based database. You can also use the application written in Domino Designer with browser from Internet. I can say more things about Lotus Notes if you want.
And I want to say that Lotus is one of biggest server-client platform of all time created by IBM.

It is a form of groupware, collaboration and communication tool - emails, calendars, information sharing.
