I suppose they must have gone deaf already and that's why they can't hear it.

There really is no other explanation. or excuse.

I have two children and I have never allowed that to happen. If they ever started to throw a fit in a store, that's when we left. immediately. I think I only did that twice ever. left the cart half full of groceries and just walked away (with my child). time to go home.

Well as a parent, I would like to say that sometimes nothing can be done about it unless you give into the child. Some of it is bad parenting and parents that don't care and have dragged the child out even if they know the child will be tired and cranky. Sometimes it is a parent denying their child some toy or other thing they have seen and the child is throwing a tantrum over it, the only way to stop it is to give in to the child which will only make it worse the more times this is done. I think the bigger problem for me is the parents who let their children run up and down the aisles and never say a word to them when they are banging into other people and knocking down smaller children. Those are the parents I don't understand. I would rather listen to their kid scream then have my 2 year old screaming cause she just smashed her head on the floor because some older kid shoved her down.

Bad Parenting... .what can I say.

I have been taking my kids to restaurants and public places since they were infants. The difference with me is, the second they even looked like they were about to cry, I took them away from other people.

They learned very very early the importance of acting polite in a public setting. To this day, I get so many compliments from strangers whenever we take them out to dinner....or where there are groups of people, plays, concerts, etc.

I am a proud dad... now if I could only get mom to stop screaming!!! lol!

It's a retail policy. " Ignore children when screaming, so as to bother every other customer around. If necessary, to the point that either another customer will either say something to the parent, or leave the store immediately ".
( It's the parents to blame . They have a tendency to let kids run wild rather than try to control them when they SHOULD !!! )
It doesn't bother me so much in a store, but if I go out to eat, I go to enjoy it, and be able to talk to the people that I'm with.

I am a father of 2 (a two year old boy and a 6 month old girl). I can tell honestly i do get annoyed when my child is screaming. And yes I have parenting skills. I punish (spank, time out - which is stupid for a 2 year old). When he gets older he will behave. But i don't ignore it. I deal with it the best that it can be dealt with. That is why i tend to ignore or not be pissed when it happens and its other peoples kids.

I tend to let my kid throw tantrums (and not get too mad) becuase he is $#%@#$@ 2 years old...and unfortunately thats what tired, hungry, wet kids do.

They do but they r trying to ignore them. Shame that the rest of the people cant. I use to take my kid out to the car & have my food delievered & sit with them in the car until the dinner was over while the rest of the family enjoyed a nice quiet dinner while We in the Car Having an experience.

Because when you are out and your child starts throwing a tantrum, the best thing to do is just ignore them or they get worse. What a child wants when they are throwing a fit is to get a reaction from mom or dad! However, if you are at a place where it is really disturbing to others such as a restaurant..Then I think taking your child out for a break is a good idea.

I think its a lack of communication with your children they don't know what kind of behavoir is appropriate. Its so easy to just "tune it out" but then it does nothin for teaching them how to deal with their emotions. It takes patience and sometimes it means actually removing the child from the store or restaurant, but really you wanna teach them to be respectful and polite while out.

I work in a retail store, and I have seen kids sitting in those little seats on the carts with their head tilted all the way back screaming their lungs out. And their parent just pushes them around the store and does their shopping..... It drives me CRAZY!!!!

I always wonder why they continue shopping. If their child is that miserable they may be sick or hungry or just bored. It is cruel to the child first of all to continue, second of all they are driving the rest of us crazy while we are trying to shop and mind our own business. Truly though, my first thought is that I feel sorry for the child and think that is not a good parent who is keeping them there so long.
