Why is the government so bent about obesity? I'm wondering if they tried looking at the REAL reasons why so many hundreds of people are obese?

There is also much media coverage on the nation's biggest, tv-surgery showing liposuction and stomach ops, and hundreds of programmes that shout out the harmfulness of the contents of peoples' fridges and cupboards, not to mention daily diets. It torments the minds of some that are trying to lose wieght. Why is there so much coverage on it?

The people that really suffer are semi-overweight, overweight, or 'overweight' people who get super-paranoid about their figures and eating habits, making themselves ill.

And then the concerns about bullemia and anorexia are barely given as much focus. Why?

By the way I'm not obese but have been overweight in my past. Many women like me have real bodies (hourglass figures; curves toboot), have been recent targets for the 'FAT' label, when some of us only wear sizes 14/16. Why?

I'm not saying the government are wrong in doing this but shouldn't they provide more help to people who need it? i.e. the people that have eiting disorders because of the over-focus on the 'desired wieght', and for the people that are genuinely trying to lose weight, help and support for those who have genuine problems that lead to excess weight gain. and making plans for the lazy too. don't make things so readily available for those who just cannot be bothered e.g. stomach ops for people who are morbidly obese and won't do anything about it. don't make the let the fast food industry grow to gargantuam proportions, cut down on rubbish-food making and it's availability in supermarkets. has the government thought about these plans?

We have it very bad on this side of the pond. Our children are even showing up with Type 2 diabetes and heart problems. The adults are just plain fat!

The government has to pick on someone so this month its obese people, the NHS is straining at the hinges with lack of funding, the managers in charge of hospitals are been paid extortionate fees, staff are been cut back and we have an open door policy for the world and his wife to enter our country, so instead of looking at the real issue of crisis that our country is in Tony Blair and his cronies have to single out something to make savings on and unfotunately its the obese peoples turn to have the blame laid at their door, fast food is everywhere, the government is allowing it to be advertised anywhere and everywhere, it should be discouraged and not incouraged, kids are so lacking in exercise and are becoming fat adults with health problems, families don't sit round the table anymore with a good home cooked healthy meal in front of them, everyone has such a busy fast lifestyle that doesn't give them time to eat or cook healthily anymore, rubbish, it is quicker to prepare a meal from fresh products than it is to cook a ready made meal in the oven, the government have let us down with allowing so much rubbish into our food system and are now pointing the finger of blame at us all for it, people with obesity problems are left to get on with it as no help is given, bullemics and anorexics have clinics and self help groups, maybe if there was the help for the obese the young kids who are becoming bullemic and anorexic wouldn't need these clinics because of the pressure there under to be stick insects, its a vicious circle, the fat are getting fatter because they have no help and no one cares about them unless its to critise them.
