It depends on how many video cards your motherboard can take. I have two video cards on my motherboard for 2 monitors and I can add 2 more. I'm assuming the max would be six, but I would go to the local electronics store and ask or find a tech support forum online.

You did not state which board you had, but since you want high end graphics I'll asume you have PCIe. Here is a for output card. It will support four monitor with the use of DVI splitters.
You can find many more cards to compare to at http://www.PriceWatch.com

if you add multiple graphics cards you can have multiple monitors.
Currently I have had up to three monitors on one computer, Problem is you'll need PCI graphic cards cause old main boards only have one AGP card.

It depends on your video card, how many video cards and how many ports on your video card (s). I have 1 video card that has three ports, VGA, DVI, and TV/HDTV out, so I would assume I am able to support three different monitors: A VGA monitor, a DVI monitor, and a HDTV.

It depends on your graphics card. Also, are you wanting the monitors to each show the same image, or are you wanting each of them to show part of an overall image?
