Healthy food IS cheap if you shop and cook at home instead of trying vainly to eat healthfully at McDonald's.

America is very lucky to have an abundance of food, and being the glutenous that a lot of American are, we just do not show self control when it comes to food. We find reason to eat even if we are not hungry. At the movies, at ball games, at theme parks. Sugary snack are so cheap and quick, that people forget about the less expensive healthy snacks, such as a cut up apple dipped in peanut butter.
Americans also tend to be on the lazy side. It is very easy to watch an infomercial and think "Hey if I take that pill and work out to that DVD, I can also loose 30 pound is 4 weeks!" But what people don't realize is that you have to DO the exercises on the DVD in order to loose the weight along with cutting calories.

Americans are all about convenience. Fast food is cheap and filling, most people just forget that it's loaded with lots of calories. In other countries the portion size is much smaller. People are used to seeing less on their plate and still getting full. Here, we assume that since it's so cheap to upgrade to a bigger meal, it's a better bargain. Do we really need all those extra calories? Making your own food is a lot cheaper. When you cook, typically there will be left overs. It's healthier because you can limit what you put into it.

Stay away from everything the color white to eat. Even rice that is white in color is no good for weighty problems. Bread in USA is mostly white people eat here. STOP!!!
Sitting for long periods of time will hurt your circulation in your digestion syatem, thus not allowing your body to metabolize your food fast enough. Europeans and Asians rarely sit for these long periods culturally.
Eat many times a day but only what can fit into one hand.
Cheap food is out there. The mentality and knowledgeis what is lacking

We Americans are HUGE. If you travel to other countries, you will see how true this statement is. I don't think they are saying this as an insult, unfortunately it is a fact. Most Americans could stand to lose a few pounds. I agree with you though, there should be something done by our government to educate people on proper diet. Food makers should have restrictions made on food content, such as sugar, fat, etc.

Because 70% of them are overweight. Thankfully, I'm not one of them. They're more lazy because they have so many commodities that other countries don't. There's more stress and pressure to succeed, there's more fast food joints. And quiet frankly, they don't give a dam n about it. That's their main problem. If they could recognize they have a health issue, I'm sure in time they would change. But most don't care, and they treat their children the same way. Kid acts up...take him to Dairy Queen, stuff something in his mouth to keep him quiet. And adults are the same way...Depressed? Eat a quart of ice cream, or 5 cheese burgers.

That is true. A friend of mine just found out she has diabetes and now she has changed her diet to healthy food. But it is SO expensive!! She spends double or more than she used to on her week's worth of grocery shopping.

That would make alot more sense.
Example, I can buy a cheeseburger for a buck. For 2 buck I can get a bowl of fruit that does not fill me up.
