I don't know if Bush hates McCain but the fact is that McCain represents everything Bush is not.

McCain is capable of bipartisanship. Bush is not.
McCain is a war hero. Bush is not.
McCain is against corruption (aka as lobbying). Bush is not.
McCain is a scholar. Bush is not.
McCain is an internationalist. Bush is not.

DIXIEROCK: your ignorance is staggering.

McCain HAS supported Bush, although I can't fathom why he would after the despicable dirty campaigning Bush waged against him in the 2000 republican primaries.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Bush loyalists, maybe working for the campaign, maybe just representing its interests, claimed in parking-lot handouts and telephone "push polls" and whisper campaigns that McCain’s wife, Cindy, was a drug addict, that McCain might be mentally unstable from his captivity in Vietnam, and that the senator had fathered a black child with a prostitute. Callers push-polled members of a South Carolina right-to-life organization and other groups, asking if the black baby might influence their vote. Now here’s the twist, the part that drives McCain admirers insane to this very day: That last rumor took seed because the McCains had done an especially admirable thing. Years back they’d adopted a baby from a Mother Teresa orphanage in Bangladesh.

McCain opposed Bush for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000. Even though McCain was a much better candidate for the job, Bush won through mud-slinging and whisper campaigns. Karl Rove, Bush's genius political advisor, started campaigns of passing out leaflets and putting leaflets on cars at churches, insinuating outlandish lies about McCain, and did so through other organizations to hide the true source of the lies. For example, there was a rumor floating around about McCain having a black love child, when in fact it was his adopted daughter, also it was rumored that McCain had anger problems, and was crazy. None of these things were true, of course, but nevertheless people bought it and Bush is now President...Funny thing is, if it had been McCain vs. Gore, I would have voted for McCain, and I usually vote Democrat or Independent. So it goes.

I dunno if Bush hates McCain, but I'm happy McCain is taking a stand against Bush's proposed plan. Quite frankly I don't trust Bush to "clarify" any article. Especially when it pertains to the treatment of prisoners that could affect American prisoners in other countries. May not make a difference for their treatment in Iraq in the here and now. But I doubt this will be the last war we are involved with and we have to look ahead of now. Besides It like one of them said, if we change it who's to stop other countries from "interpreting" it their way. I dunno I may be a little naive but that's just the way I feel.

Bush hates anybody that doesn't think like he does plain and simple. That's the ONLY issue he's "bi-partisan" on. I'm a liberal Democrat but I do think there are some good conservative Republicans around with some good ideas, too bad the current administration is so closed minded even to those in it's own party.

The Bush administration believes that they have all the answers and can never be wrong about anything. A case in point is Cheney's comments about Iraq and how they would have attacked even without the "WMD's" and "9/11" connection.
They basically believe that anyone who questions them is a traitor.

McCain is a maverick. He still holds a grudge against President Bush, because President Bush, beat him in the 2000 primary's. Get over it, President Bush is our President, now stop all this nonsense, and support him. It's about time all Americans get together, and unite, as a nation. You will get a chance in 08, to try and defeat the Republicans, to get the white house back..

Bush is still throwing a tantrum that McCain dared to oppose him for the nomination in 2000, and he is not a mindless zombie that Bush would want him to be

Cons hate moderates and they can't stand for anyone to compromise on a middle ground. Christian Conservatives are very much like the Islamic extremists, they want it their way or no way.

McCain is a good man and, as a Liberal, I have a lot of respect for him for fighting for the middle ground, unlike Conservatives who don't have the courage and moderation to compromise on a middle ground.
