since the box turtle eats vegetables and other greens I don't see why there would be a problem, make sure the cage is large enough to house both animals, It is almost fall and it seems like its time for both of these animals to go into hibernation, maybe its time to set them free, and start again next year

They won't fight, garter snakes eat earthworms and turtles eat vegetables. They should coexist just fine, unless the turtle wants a bite of the snake, which I doubt would happen.

By the way, they will stay awake during the winter if they're inside...since it's warm, they probably won't go into hibernation.

Unless the garter is very small, there should not be a problem, but it would be wise to keep them separate to avoid stressing them. They will both compete for earthworms(yes, box turtles love worms) if you feed them in the same cage & even if you separate them, the scent of the worms could cause a feeding strike by either of these animals.

It's not advisable to house more than one type of reptile together. They may need different cage set-ups. I've never had a turtle, so I wouldn't know much about that aspect.

Keeping them in the same cage could also carry the risk of stressing one or both of your animals, and shortening their life spans, or spreading parasites from one to the other.

Personally, I really would recommend separate cages for the two.

I would not keep them together, sooner or later your turtle is going to bite your snake and may do some damage, it would be best to keep them in seperate aquariums

there's no fight there. but the other guy is right. it is time for hibernation, let them go and start again next spring. You can consider yourself a summer home for wayward reptiles.

You can do it, but it is never a good idea to mix species. They won't fight, they just don't share habitats well.
