Hard, mindless, manual labor. Anything that's rigorous and makes you physically work things out distracts your mind from wandering.
Basically, right now you're so isolated doing nothing important that you can't understand how anything works. I'm not saying you've fried or wired or shot up your brain, you're just.... out of it.
Do something pragmatic so your imagination becomes genuine again and isn't a freefloating tool. It's great to be flexible and open-minded, but not having control over your own thoughts is another story.

S L O W W A Y D O W N . Seek the moment. examine a flower. Watch the second hand of a clock for three minutes. Hold your breath for 60 seconds. Do not pee until it is very uncomfortable. All those things are reality.

Do you have a serious problem, which' s making you drift from reality and want to stay somewhere safe?
Find a friend, who you can confide and tell him all about your pain. That will take the pressure off your sholders. Your friend could help you realize what is true & what is not.
That's what the friends are for.

put the joint(shrooms/acid/drink) down.
Seriously. I think you need to go a little more in depth. If I'm feeling out of it I take a shower for one. I also go to morning mass. Maybe spend an hour in the adoration chapel. I stop isolating myself and find some people. I clean. I figure out what I can do now to make things better later. Like setting up the coffee maker so when I wake up I just have to press the button (or in my case plug the cheap pieace chit in). More drastic things maybe, like read ahead in in my textbook. Figure out a plan and what's the next step to take.
You know... I think most importantly. More important than all that useful stuff. I just let go. Let God take over. If I'm confused, maybe I'm s'posed to be confused. Ignorance is bliss.

You get back on the path by asking God Almighty to help you. He is the Creator of the universe, and for thousands of years He has had a plan for your life. You have to put your trust in Him, and pray for His help and guidance.....with faith, everything changes.

Watch the film, "American Beauty." It helps me connect with the good part of myself. It reminds me of simple beauty in the world. It reminds me that each person has their perspective and to them it's correct. And over-all it is a perfect film to recharge me when the world gets mucked up.
Peace.

I try not to get back to reality, or the lie. You have to go crazy to become enlightened.
