it's very simple.. for example: to change a fraction to a decimal, you divide the top number by the bottom number like 1/4 would be 1 divided by 4 = .25.
then to change back to a fraction you first figure out the place value like
.1 is in the 10ths
.01 is hundredths
.001 is thousandths and then you go down to the closest denominator like for instance
.25 is hundredths right? so you put 25 over 100 like 25/100 and both can be divided by 25 so your new answer is 1/4.. get it?? it's easy.

Divide the lower number into the upper number.
1/2 =.50
2 goes into 100 50 times 2x50=100
1/4 =.25
4 goes into 100 25 times 4x25=100

Easiest route: use a calculator.
Fraction to decimal: divide numerator by denominator.
Example: 4/5 >>> 4 divided by 5 = .80
Decimal to fraction: figure out the place value (tenths, hundredths, thousandths, and so forth); place the number over that place value.
Example: .25 (twenty five - one hundredths) >>> 25 over 100 >>> 25/100 (and reduce: 1/4)

Fractions to decimals--divide the top by the bottom. ie 1/4 is 1 divided by 4 = .25.
Decimal to fractions - decimal over 100 (without decimal place though-so .25 would just be 25), reduce. ie .25 = 25/100=1/4

if you have a fraction such as 1/2. you would simply divide 2 into 1, which would give you .50, which is the same as .5 or 1/2.
If you have a fraction such as 1/3....it still is the same process, how many 3's go into 1? .3333333 is the answer. 3/3's comes out to be .3333 + .3333+.3333 = .99999 which when rounded = 1.

Divide the numerator (the top number) by the denominator. EX: 1/4 = one divided by 4 = .25
.25 = 25/100. when you reduce you get 1/4.
