Yes it can. As most treated wood is pine, if it is new, it will shrink as it "dries". let some time pass 4-6 months before painting. sap will migrate to the out side so You will need to use a quality sealer first. them prime. then paint. Down side is that you will need to repaint every couple of years. Personally I like the weathered look of treated wood. Spray thompsons water seal every spring has preserved our 15 year old deck and porch well.

But of course! The treatment on the wood is to prevent termites and rotting for at least 10 years. It surely can be painted. make sure you use an exterior paint (for exterior work)...preferably oil-based.

You need to let it sit for awhile. We had the deck expanded and the installer strongly recommended not painting for 3-4 months.

You really shouldn't just put paint on it. Sand it down and then paint it.

after it has weathered, use an oil-based exterior primer and then a latex exterior paint, unless it is a porch floor, then you would want to use a porch & floor paint.

we paint it all the time....make sure it has dried for a month, if old then pressure wash it first, will paint up fine
