How does one develop maturity? I think it's through life experiences and learning how to get through difficult times. So how can one get mature when they don't have any really bad things happen to them? If someone has a pretty easy, some would even say sheltered life, how can that person develop maturity, especially in a relationship?

I agree that life experiences and hard times help to develop one's maturity. Even more, though, is that maturity also involves responsibility. Completing your education, getting a job, supporting yourself, and other things such as these all involve responsibility and will quickly make a person mature. Making tough decisions also has an effect. Maturity is the sum of all your experiences and wisdom.

For myself it was the realization that no matter how many crushing defeats I survived it was all about how I dealt with the firestorms that developed after. It just comes with time and experience, knowing that it all will be taken away from You one day no matter what helps too! It really helps if You live Your life in the moments.
