Throw 'da bums out...that means I'll vote for any candidate up against an incumbent...what exactly has been accomplished over the past term? Just curious...

For local and state candidates it easy to vote the issues because unless its their first foray into politics you can check their history and see where they stand. On the national level that is harder because their entire national persona is handled by managers, and their public speeches are written for them.

While we know most people vote for their pre-ordained party, I think the independents, who make the difference, vote the issues. That is why most senators loose in the bid for Presidency, because they have a record that is easy to check and research. State governors, who frequently win, have a past that is more difficult to scrutinize.

Which dovetails into voters chosing the least offensive candidate instead of the best. In many cases governors are unknown entities and are "safer" bets than candidates with verifiable dubious records.

But to answer you question which I have so artfully avoided with my rant, I vote candidates and issues.

Locally (city) - always the person.
State - depends - usually party but i look at what they say.
Nationally 100% GOP -- havent had a valid reason since Reagan to vote DEMO, & regreted voting for PEROT then (which helped Clinton get in)

Me; I stopped voting for the candidate on national due to CLINTON specificially... & as of then switched from Demo to GOP for party registration.

The party represents for the over all phylosophical or ideological view. The candidate is the one ultimatly has the job and be held accountable for. I would vote for the person for what he or she stands for.

I vote for what's best for the country, not the party.

I am an independent; but I will continue to vote Republican until the Democratic party comes back to reality.

I mean JOHN KERRY?

Get serious.

never have voted a straight party ticket. this mid term with state offices up for reelection, I'm so tired of them and disappointed in them and Bush carried them into office. changing to a straight demo. vote.
