From what I've been reading on the boards, from friends and articles. I find it funny that people are told if they can't conceive in one year they are infertile. What the heck is that bullcrap ?

No one ever said everyone would get pregnant in a year, your body knows when you're ready and so do other things as well such as whatever GOD you believe in or energy if you dont believe in GOD.

Believe me I know the pain of thinking I was infertile. My husband and I tried for 5 yrs before our son was conceived. Got out of debt ( erased that stress ). Lost 52 pounds and bought a new house, life was getting on track and wham!

Im just wondering if any of your dr's or freinds dr's have told them they were infertile or probably couldn't have kids after ONLY one year ?
This might be a ploy to get people to spend more money on the drugs

IT IS USUSALLY SAID THAT IF A COUPLE HAS BEEN HAVING REGULAR, UNPROTECTED SEX AND HAVE NOT CONCEIVED IN ONE YEAR.. THAT THEY ARE INFERTILE.

WE HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY TRYING FOR FOUR YEARS AND NOTHING YET. ALSO I HAVE PCOS SO THAT MAKES IT EVEN HARDER. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE THOSE ARTIFICIAL DRUGS SO... WHAT DO I DO?

IT IS ALL ABOUT TIMING AND THINKING ABOUT IT EVERY TIME YOU DO THE DO WILL JUST ADD STRESS AND FRUSTRATE THE RELATIONSHIP.

Well, I would agree that many of us have a lot of stress in our lives in this day and age, and it is probably not helping those of us ttc.

However, most people are also waiting to have children, and as we get older our fertility decreases. Therefore, many of us don't have the luxury of waiting an extra 5 years in hopes we might conceive.

I myself learned that I don't ovulate regularly, so if a medication such as Clomid helps me to ovulate, then I will take it. I also found that I had endometriosis, which after my OB removed, I conceived the very next month. Now, can you tell me that time will remove that? Had I not been seeking help from my OB to conceive, I would've never known I had endo and would still be ttc. Instead, I have a healthy, happy baby girl.

Although I do believe in the Lord above, I also believe that God helps those who help themselves. I'm not sitting around waiting for things that might happen, I like to help make things happen for myself.

BTW - unless a doctor has a TON of stocks in a pharmaceutical company, how are they getting rich of the fertility drugs? Sounds to me like you have too much time on your hands these days coming up with conspiracy theories.

No doctor with ethics will declare a lady infertile in just one year!! Most of the time its the patient who starts thinking in that way probably due to the compulsions from the family. Thus panic sets in and they start visiting infertility clinics for a fast remedy.. Understand that its a complicated physiological, mental and psychological affair to become pregnant, even if all factors are OK!And quite a few doctors suggest non-medical treatment for possible infertility first and opts for assisted reproduction as a last resort!!!

I hope your right! I finally decided this month to stop worrying about trying. I have weight to lose and I know I can also better my lifestyle habits. As well as getting rid of extra stress! Hopefully my story will be the same as yours. I have one two year old now, and we have been trying for 5 months and nothing. But looking back on it I had just lost weight and switched job positions when we got pregnant with my daughter. (she was a surprise) It seems like they tell you to try for a year and then immediately put you on meds. Sometimes not even testing everything they should be testing. And the darn drugs are so expensive and at least my health insurance doesn't cover any of it. So congrats on the new pregnancy!

8 years ago the doctor told me that I would NEVER be able to have kids because I Had a stillborn so I decided to get the right thing done rather than risking the babies and had a tubal. CUT TIED AND BURNED here it is 8 years later and I prayed and prayed to go I got a reversal and went to a infertility center and they had told me that the doctor who told me that was full of crap. I am now 15 weeks and doing well!

It's not that they say that you are infertile meaning that you CAN'T have children it means that after a year there might be a problem. It's not like it's a permanent diagnosis. It means get check because MOST people will get pregnant within a year while having unprotected sex.

If you are 35 and over they say after 6 months you need to be checked.

Only a doctor can determine whether you are infertile or not. Just because you don't get pregnant in a year does not mean you are infertile. Many fertile people can't get pregnant for whatever reason.

Many people take more than one year to have a baby. I was told by two different doctors that I couldn't have any and here I am pregnant with baby number 2. Doctors are not always right.

No but I agree it took my husband and I over a year to get pregnant. After we stopped trying and I lost a few pounds it happened. I didn't loose 52 pounds though. (although I probably should have)

I agree with you. I've heard so many stories about women who were told by their doctors that they would not be able to conceive and they ended up getting pregnant after trying on their own.
