AIDs patients should not be legally required to tell, because they would be discriminated against (in the workplace, school, church, friends, etc)
As far as passing the disease around, well, you really shouldn't be having sex with people without protection, anyway (and condoms prevent AIDs), unless you are in a monogamous relationship. And before entering such a relationship, it's considered a really good idea to test for STDs first.
Why would you want to fix people "so they can't have sex" if they have AIDs? First off, I can't think of a good way to do that without causing painful disfigurement. It's against basic human rights to perform surgery on another person without their permission (unless medically necessary).
I'm a paramedic, and I'm at risk for getting AIDs and other nasty bloodborne diseases. There are lots of other ways to get AIDs other than through unprotected sexual contact. Should a paramedic or a firefighter be "fixed" and "required to tell everyone" just because they contracted a nasty disease from their job?
How about a blood transfusion patient? How about a little child who received the disease from her mother while in the womb?
Would you want to discriminate against them (and ruin their chance of having a normal life)?
Anyway, that's just my two cents.
SnowChick: AIDs cannot be transmitted through food service. You have to have direct blood to blood contact, i.e. a tear in your skin contacts their blood. AIDs is actually more difficult to get than most bloodborne diseases. AIDs only lives for a few minutes outside the human body but Hep B can live for days, or weeks in a pool of dried blood.

They should have to tell their partner yes
Fixed are you crazy they aren't dogs
To prevent being infected , people should ask their significant other to get a test before they have sex if not then they don't care enough about themselves
Yes there should be a law that they cannot willingly infect another human being while knowing
They should not be segregated
You are upset about something but don't take it out on people who are in for a lot of hurt down the road

Okay. No. This is America. People have rights here. I cannot believe people are suggesting to ship people away to another place if you are HIV positive. Thats absaloutley astonishing. I am ashamed to hear that you are an American. I do agree that if you have AIDS you should not knowingly spread the disease. But no. They should not HAVE to tell every waking soul that they have the disease. You cannot catch it just by being next to them! They arent animals for crying out loud! They are people. Just trying to live. We shouldnt "fix" them like dogs. Help cure the disease by spreading KNOWLEDGE. Teach the younger generation about the disease and prevent it from reoccuring. Volunteer. Get a heart and a soul.

Your babbling don't make any sense. The only way to "fix" somebody so that they cannot have sex is to kill them. I DON'T NOT support the homosexual life style, but even I seriously doubt that the public would allow such BS. "Gay marriage" would not reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS. I know several same sex couples, and NONE of them are monogamous. I think you need to talk to your doctor about changing you medications.

We could stop HIV/AIDs this year. Seal the borders, give 100% of all people inside our borders a blood test. Anyone testing positive gets shipped to a area where they have to live. Supply all they need, but if they leave that area, immediate execution. It's the only way to be sure.

They should tell their partner for sure. Not telling them could result in assault with a deadly weapon charge and possibly attempted murder. But, people that aren't going to have intimate contact with the infected person, don't have any right to know.

They should be required to tell if they are in a job where they handle food for sure. And if they are injured, and a person with them knows they can infect the person helping them, they should be required to tell also.

Many states (and countries) already have laws against AIDS-infected people having sex without notifying their partner of their status.
