Someone posted a while back, that he is a black man who dates white women, but he doesn't hate his race, he just finds white women more attractive. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a contradiction? Preference always has a historical reference(Prejudice against own race/gender). Help me out here.

Nope. Preference means he just finds some qualities more attractive.

I'm a black female in the gothic/punk subculture. Now guess who I'm most likely to date? It's not going to be black guy because I rarely see any. My PREFERENCE is for someone who shares interests in things I like. I'm rarely going to connect with someone who can't tell the difference between The Cure and Marilyn Manson. He just connects with white women. It's what he finds interesting or attractive. It doesn't equal hate of his race. I don't hate black men. That's silly.

And no, he's not a sell-out.

I'm a white woman and I know all about what is wrong with those type of people! If you will, it's just like saying that you only love black poodles and not white poodles. What ever floats his boat right!. I mean, they are both exactly the same except one is a different color, right! I've met people like him and they only want one thing and it's not right. I mean, look at OJ Simpson! It's his preference I know but that's not right to say he only dates white women because white women are more attractive. That is a damn lie. I have seen some but ugly white women and some but ugly black women. I have also seen some gorgeous black women and some gorgeous white women. People are people, right? so, in conclusion," He must have been around all the ugly women growing up and thought that he has never seen a beautiful black woman before! Obviously he needs to get out and look around. I know that there are tons of black women that look SO much better than I ever could. But it's not what other people say about what you look like that matters, It's what you find in yourself to be that defines you. He's just another jerk from the dick wad society. That's what I think!

I dont think finding a race more attractive means your prejudice against them. Are gays therefore considered sexist? Do all lesbians hate men? Do white men who find white women more attractive necissarily mean they are racist? Or people who prefer skinny people. Does this mean they hate all overweight people? I think sexual preference and view of attractiveness are simply a a person's taste, and does not stem back to historical prejudices, though prejudices could very well affect these preferences...just a thought

No, not a sell out. Just likes white chicks. Most black men these days do. It's no biggie. In about 100 or so years, most of the gene pool will be mixed anyway. Enjoy that fine real Italian cusine while you can before it's lost forever. I'll admit, I'll be sad to see beautiful cultures lost (along with their tasty cooking) because of the melting pot mentality of the world.

No, I don't think he's a sell out. But if he like to date white women because he thinks all black women have attitude problems, or all black women are substandard, then yes, he would be called a self hating racist.

I think you ought to take him at his word.

I'm blond. (Well, born blond, now highlighted.) I prefer people with dark hair. Does that mean I hate other blonds, or just that I have a preference and eroticize something different? I think the same applies to skin.

Good question, but I cannot answer fairly. You have to ask him.
I t does seem a bit racist, but we live in a free coountry so he can dop what ever he wants as long as it is legal and there was a time not long ago when it was not legal~ think on that!

Hate is a nasty 4 letter word. He said that he doesn't hate them so it's not a contradiction. The statement means what it says.

People are attracted to different kinds of physical attributes - that does not mean that you are prejudice.
