I want to look over some texts before taking organic chemistry, so I'll be better prepared. Do you guys know any good books or texts that might help?

'The World of Carbon' by Isaac Asimov, Ph D

Anything non-fiction by Isaac Asimov will be comprehensive and understandable. His Ph D was in biochemistry.

He also wrote a number of fiction books and non-fiction in almost every major category in the Dewey Decimal System notation.

Ege's O-Chem text is very good and has a study guide that shows the steps to get the answers. I also enjoyed Wade's text as it has reaction summaries at the end of the chapters.

your best bet would be to browse current books in a college or university book store and decide for yourself which text is appropriate for your needs. There is also quite a lot of material on the Internet, which of course, is free.

yes, try a compendium written by Hendrikson, then one by Wilkinson. If you don't run away, take up OC!
