try listening to the lyrics, and look at what the heart of the artist is. don't only go by the songs you hear on the radio, either. these guys are musicians or entertainers; not worship leaders. (though the guys from stellar kart started together as a worship band) their primary goal is to write songs that will appeal to people. for example, disciple's album is full of very worshipful songs, (shine down on me, for example) but their single "rise up" isn't the most worshpping song.
the real issue is the heart of the artist, not the content of the songs (however, when the content and the claimed heart disagree, then there's an issue, but that's rare.)

It still frusturates me that the term Christian Rock is still around. To me that implies that they are writing music to "cater" to an audience, when the irony, those bands that are signed by "Christian" labels are the few bands around that are writing about their Passion in life. When there are Christians in the band, there is no reason to sell out to a crowd, because everything else become secondary.
I love Switchfoot for this. P.O.D too. Thousand Foot Krutch and Pillar also rock it steady!

I so love listening to Air1 (it's a nation-wide alternative rock Christian station you can catch online). I'm a fan of Christian rock music, but you have to understand two things about music.
One - the way music is used now days is mostly for entertainment. As a Christian, our responsibility is to make sure that what we entertain ourselves with is God-honoring. If it contradicts with His word or His call on our lives, then we ought not to entertain ourselves with it. That is why we must be diligent to scrutinize everything we read, see, listen to, view, access, etc. God will hold us accountable for what we give our time to.
Two - just because they 'say' it's Christian, doesn't mean that every word of every song will be God-honoring. What we must do as Christians is to know God's word by reading His bible. If a song - even tho it's supposed to be Christian - contradicts God's word or causes us to question it's validity, then it's just for entertainment purposes and we should take it as such.
Music is entertaining, but you shouldn't feed your Spirit with it. Feed on the word. Give your time over to God, and when you do, He will lead you to the right kind of music. If you're truly looking to uplift your Spirit, go for Praise and Worship music. It's the safest.

Try Tait and Jeremy camp or even Skillet, I love those bands and they sure do sound very christian still, the Devil will try to fool christians even with our own music that will lead to worldy music.
