An aquarium kit with filter, light hood and heater average around $50.00 depending on the size. I would reccomend a twenty gallon which woud cost closer to one hundred dollars and an aquarium divider for the fry at $15.00. Food $10.00, salt $2.00, gravel $15.00, plants $15.00 and Guppies (after the tank has run for two weeks $20.00).
I would reccomend the expense, it can be really relaxing to watch them and rewarding to produce some spectacular young. Consider buying some breeding stock from a true breeder or fro this site

If you want to breed show guppies, it wil cosy you far more than $100 . You can pay upwards of $40 for a good breeding couple, and then you need special tanks for each pair, and another tank for their offspring. However, if you just want lots of fish, no, go to the local pet store, and buy 2 females and 1 male, and before 6 months you will have dozens if you buy a second tank, and a breeding trap to keep the babies in . I started with 2 females and 1 male, and after 17 months, have close to 150, and I just scoop any live fry I can see from the top of the water each day. I have so many, that I give the not so pretty males and half the females to my daughter as food for her ciclids every month or so.

Start out with a 15-20 gallon tank and 10-15 guppies. The tank costs $50.00, the guppies $20-30. Supplies are maybe fourty more dollars. If the breeding is successful, get a bigger tank and more guppies. :-)

infest is right, you don't need to invest much at all, the tank and equipment cost the most between $50.00 to $150.00 then buy a bag of 30 to 40 guppies for $3.00 to $4.00 in a few months you will have approximately 1 million of the Little critters.

I dont think it would be over $100. Guppies at my pet store are only like 10 cents and they tank cant be that much money.

Are you talking about simple feeder Guppies or fancy Guppies?
You can invest as much as you like. The question is what are you planning to do with them? Sell them or simly breed them for your own viewing pleasure?

Just put a male(colorful ones) and a couple of females in a tank. You should have babies in a couple of months. Shouldn't cost more than about $75 dollars for everything.
