I did not realize that a lot of women liked Kurosawa, that is really cool. I really liked Rashomon for its different perspectives. I have seen a couple of different Chinese movies that looked liked they were based on Seven Samurai, however, they were a little more fantastical.

I love Akira Kurosawa. His films are beyond compare. My favorite is Rashoman. It tells the same story from the perspective of all the different participants. It's amazing how the story changes just by changing from whose perspective the story is told. Everyone should see this film if only to understand alternative perspective.
Oh and have you seen seven swords? It looks like it might be a chinese retelling of 7samurai.

I LOVE HIS MOVIES! My favorite is "Ikiru" starring Takashi Shimura. That was a brilliant movie. I own his first 2 movies on video "No Regrets For Our Youth" and "One Fine Sunday." They are not as good as his later films, but they are still good. They do show that he was going to be a brilliant director. The first movie of his I saw was "Ran." I knew then that he was a great director. I then I started to watch his other movies and I was a big fan. "Rhapsody In August" is another great movie.

The Japanese segments of "Tora! Tora! Tora!" were fabulous. He was uncredited.
