You can't. First of all there isn't an employer out there who is going to give a job that pays well because most likely you don't have the experience or the experience they are looking for. Second, even if you do have the experience, most empoyers won't trust you in a well-paid job, unless you can prove to them that you are beyond the typical "16-year old." I don't want to sound horrible to you, but it is like this about 95% of the time. Mostly what you have got to do is find a job where you are comfortable, stick to it until you gain more experience just through life itself. I'm not talking three years at a job, but until you feel you're ready to move on. As you progress through work habits, you will learn what you really want in a job and what you might want to do with your life. Whatever happens, trust your instincts and good luck with your search.

When I was 16 I worked as a cashier for our local pharmacy. It's not a bad job and it isn't fast food.
You could also get a job in a legal office stuffing envelopes or something like that.
Another option would be to take a "Safe Sitter" course where they teach you CPR and how to handle emergency situations and start babysitting.
There's always something you can do no matter how old or young you are that doesn't require fast food.

When I was in high school, I had a job as an entertainer at children's parties. I dressed up as characters and danced and played with the kids for a half hour or hour, and got paid $20-$30 an hour to do so. I only worked on weekends, and got paid in cash usually. It was a perfect job for a student.

I've found 16 year olds can't get many jobs. It's going to be different everywhere and you're going to have to look hard, because most major stores won't hire 16 year olds.
