I remember watching a vampire movie in the mid-90s. The vampires were kind of the good guys and blended in with normal society. The main character was trying to stop a war which occurred between a load of "evil" christians and the vampires, and I remember a load of stake-wielding Christians in pickup trucks and vans showed up towards the end of the film. It may have been made for TV.
Films it definitely isn't: Nightbreed, Near Dark, Innocent Blood

I watched it on TV in 1994, so not The Breed (2001). Also not JC's Vampires, Blade or The Lost Boys.
I seem to remember the main actor looked a bit like Gabriel Byrne but it wasn't him. Was quite low-budget.

Valli - the blonde woman thing is a possibility. The main thing I remember was that they were trying to break the tradition of pointless war between the christians and the vampires.

Finally, I've found which one it was. Has a lower rating than I expected so maybe not as good as I remember. I'll leave it open and drop some hints.
Hint 1: The vampires were known as something else rather than vampires, had no fangs and could go out in the daytime. The underlying theme was about racism.
