Well, a "sadness" springs to mind, but one could also have a "boredom", a "curiosity", a "sleuth" or a "parliament". As collective nouns are a somewhat contrived form of the language who knows?

We're not all sad, at least not all the time. Some of us are just bored. Some are practicing their typing and communication skills. The ones who actually are sad are at least trying to do something instead of just wallowing in misery and giving up.
