Why are you so worried about how we treat prisoners that have killed are families, friends, soldiers, and would kill you without blinking? Why are you so consumed in making sure we are politically correct in treating our prisoners? I understand we can't stoop to their level but shouldn't this be number 1,123 on list of things we should worry about? Its seems so idiotic, yet all I see the pathetic liberal media do is blow this unimportant issue out of proportion. Am I for torture, of course not? But please spare me this irrelevant topic when looking at the grand scheme of things. If you guys expect to be taken seriously in the next election I wouldn't try to go this route. I can tell you most Americans who think rationally think this topic is a joke. I just cant fathom the stupidity while people are dying for you to keep this freedom you seem (or come off) as taking for granted.

True war heroes like John McCain and Colin Powell are worried about how we treat prisoners because they know that what we do to them can be turned right back around and used against us. Dubya might know that if he had bothered to show up for duty in the Air National Guard.

They are being held upon suspicsion - they have not be proven guilty.
Liberals are worred about how people are treated - period. As a person of good conscience, I find the mistreatment of others abhorent. Prisons are not there to give us license to dehumanize people - they are there so people who do bad things can be seperated from society and therefore not hurt anyone else.
The bottom line is even Saddam Hussein thought Al Qaeda was a threat and was taking steps against them himself. We don't have any business being in Iraq under the quise of the War on Terror. We have allowed this administration to pursue a personal vendetta, using our people as soldiers and victims. If America wants to be a global presence, they need to act in accordance with the global community and the people at home - he is doing neither. He has no right to add insult to injury by torturing prisoners.
If American prisoners were being treated as Gitmo prisoners are, America would say that was a reason for war in and of itself. We need to treat others as we want to be treated - both locally and globally - and the sooner we all learn that, the sooner there will be freedom and stable peace in the world.
Peace!

Like a toddler treats a diaper. the numerous distinction might want to be that even as the prisoners at Gitmo were harrassed by employing the guards, there develop into little regulation of there movements. American prisons are mainly owned privately so there is an entire legal duty difficulty there. What i recommend is that the Gitmo prisoners might want to nonetheless probable take it on the chin in spite of the undeniable fact that this is extra likely to go back from the different prisoners fairly than artwork force (who might want to probable turn a blind eye to a ton of ruthless sh_t).

It's VERY obvious to me you've got no military experience otherwise you wouldn't post such an absurd question. I'm ex-military and will be the FIRST to tell you and anyone else that torture is not something the USA needs to be involved in. I'm not just some "bleeding heart liberal" stating this, look at all the Republican "ex-military" people who are standing against it..........Sen. McCain, Colin Powell, etc.

When I was a kid playing soldiers, it was a hard and fast rule that only the badguys tortured prisoners of war, spied on their own people, and made up bogus reasons for attacking other countries. That was a big part of why we -- or more technically, our dads -- went to war with Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo. Americans didn't do that. We were better than that.
Anyone who argued that it was okay to torture prisoners wouldn't have been allowed to play on the American side when I was a kid.

Powell said Bush's proposal to redefine the Geneva Conventions would encourage the world to "doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism" and "put our own troops at risk."
