does the bird imprint when it is full grown if not able to when young or does it just not imprint. back this up with scientific studies please.

What kind of bird? Only a few birds will imprint on an object(the others are helpless so they rely on whatever feeds them, they're not really imprinting)...and by imprinting I mean that they believe that it's their parent. Adult birds do not imprint, there is no reason to. Newly hatched birds imprint on the first thing they see...there will always be something around, and hopefully it's the parent bird. If not, then the little guy will follow people, other animals, cars, whatever they see. I don't have a specific study to cite, this just comes from my general knowledge and understanding.
