Hi all,
My due date is today but only dialated 1 centimeter and baby hasn't drop enough. Doctor decided to induce me tomorrow. Do you know how long it gonna take to be in labor after being induced? Does induce help you to feel painless, will labor be shorter than just let it happened naturally? Doc. estimated that i will give birth by sunday.
thank you all

Inducing labor just means they start labor artificially. this can be done by breaking the water and seeing if the labor starts on its own the if it doesn't followed by pitosin(spelling?). The labor itself will depend on you and your family history(how long the woman in your family's labors were). The pain you feel will still be the same(IN my honest opinion).

how do I know this I had 3 out of 4 kids induced. good luck. I had an epidural with the last 2 made my life a bit easier.

After your'e induced, labor starts pretty fast, within the hour. Inducing does not help with the pain, if you start feeling pain and you need relief, ask for an epidural. Labor will be shorter than naturally if you haven't already started having contractions but there's still a chance that if the baby doesn't come that the doctor may end up suggesting a c-section.

My due date was August 31st and they were talking about taking me in September 6 to be induced. I hadn't dialted yet, and my cervix were thick. The baby was head down, but hadn't dropped down enough as well. On the 5th I started having contractions and went in to the ER. I was in labor! When I got checked by a labor and delivery nurse I still hadn't dialated and my contractions were 3 to 5 minutes apart when I got there. They waited a few hours then gave me some pain killers. Wasn't quite time for the epidural, but it helped. My OB came in and gave me the medicine to be induced and broke my water. Once that happened I slowly reached 2 centimeters. Once I got to about 3 I got the epidural. My labor lasted 18 hours, but with the drugs and no window it seemed like 5 or 6 hours. I did hear that doing it naturally is a lot sure. But everybody's body is diffrent. I ended up getting a c section on the 5th because the baby was to high. Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice. Good luck to you and it'll go by and when you see your baby you won't look back. Good luck

My labor with my first was induced and it was a nightmare...the contractions came one after another, with no break in between, I ended up with an epidural, so Then I couldn't feel the contractions.
Sounds great except I didn't know when to push, so not only did I have to watch the monitor so I knew when to push, but I didn't have that natural need to push, so I didn't push hard enough. Labor lasted forever and I still have hemorrhoids to show for the birth.
YES, it IS worth it, but it is NOT easy!

Congratulations! When you get your labor induced it doesn't reduce anything pain wise, and it just puts you body into the motions of being in labor but doesn't guarantee it will be any quicker than it would have been if your body had done it. My experience has been, that if induced early in the morning (between 6-8 am) you will have a baby at least by that evening or early am hours of Sunday. But you could get lucky and have him/her later that morning or early afternoon. No guarantees though he/she will make their appearance when they are ready and then and then only. They may be babies, but they can be stubborn :)

It really just depends on you. Inducing labor only gets you started it doesn't hurry you along with labor and it surely doesn't reduce the pain. In fact I've heard a lot of women say it hurts worse to be induced.

I was induced but slept through my hours of labor as soon as they gave me pain meds. Then they woke me up only to tell me I was going to have a C-section because my pelvic bone was too small to have a vaginally birth. Too bad that didn't know that before they induced me huh?

Good luck and congrats on your new miracle!

inducing labor can take all day. inducing itself does not help with pain. Gte the epidural as soon as possible.
Sister went in at 8:00 am began inducing labor by 9:00 am gave birth about 11:00pm

It is different for everyone. I was about a day over due also when I went in. They induced me also. I took pain medication for my contractions. Needless to say when they were inducing my labor I was not dilating fast enough. So being in the hospital for a day in a half. I was dilated to 9 1/2. I had to get C section. For you it could be different. Everyone is differen. Good luck and congratulations.

I was induced with all three of my children, first two, with the drops in IV--- first child 6 1/2 hrs. 2nd child-- 8 1/2 hrs. My last baby I was a week late, got induced at the hospital with some kind of medicated strip that was inserted vaginally. They said relax by morning she will be born... Three hours later she was out. Everyone is different. Soon your bundle of joy will be here...Good Luck!

i was induced, also, and it is NOT painless. it just speeds up the process a little. if you want less pain, ask for an epidural.
as for how long it will take, that is up to your body. i was only in labor for 4 hours (including pushing) but that isn't always the case.
Best Wishes...
