Are they required to be there to keep programs running or can they be deleted, most of them dont contain any data also.

Yes you can delete the files in this folder. It is just a list of previously opened applications. It is there to tell windows what to load into memory when it starts up.It is sort of like a new version of the old autoexec.bat, which the post windows 98's don't use. By deleting them, your startup will be faster and you will have less things sitting in memory, waiting for you to use them.

Just hit the file & hit delete they'll be gone.Good Luck
