I actually was on my own when I was 16 but technically I was about to move to my own place in high school when I was 18. Its rough. But of course like everyone else that says make sure you have a job. Now if things are extremely bad in you current home like physical abuse, verbal and server drug use, including the nice little ingredience of firearms like me then you could consider moving on your own. But if its just the, "I just can't get my space, or I don't have the independence like should..." seriously...stick around as long as you can. Perferable until they kick you out for saying your mooching on them to long. Save up money, stash it away and DONT TOUCH IT!!! For F*ck Sake don't touch it. You're temped at a young age to buy this and that and it adds up. Quick trust me on this. You have to look at whatyou really want some place you can call your home and not having to struggle like a dog in a halfway home as some welfare mother is eating your last can of food that you bought at the store to feed her kids while your at work. Now that I'm living on my own it hard becuase I have to worry about all my debt, school and just plain bills becasue I didn't save enough to start out. (But then again I ahd no choice. Its so much easier to stay home and save and ride for free while you go to school. Believe me the grass isn't always greener on the other side. If the family is pissing you off just suck it up for now and keep your mind on planning and rat holing money away for the escape. Just try to get a decent job, something steady. Roommates are okay to start. Don't pick a place that different people have different rooms in one place like a dorm. with a "communal kitcken and bath" worst mistake I made in my life. Oh get used to Top Ramon. Yuo can forget about you taste for steak and going out and getting loaded. It aint happeneing for a long time. Good luck man its a big step. BE PREPARED! You have been warned.

1. Will you go to tech school/college?
2. Get an apprenticeship?
3. On the job training?
4. Join the Air Force?
You will need to save up enough money for two month's rent (security dep. and first month's rent), pay utilities, eat, etc. You could check the paper and look for someone who needs a roommate to live cheaper. If you do, get a signed and notorized contract of who pays what and how much so you don't end up screwed over in the end, no matter how "nice" the potential roommate is.
I don't know enough about what you hope your life will be like in five years to really give you direction...but I think if you search the web you will get the answers you need.
Do you have a savings and checking account? Do you have the ability to pay your bills? A debit or credit card? Do not get more than one credit card and don't charge more than you can pay off.
Good luck!

Be sure you are ready to make the giant leap on your own! It all looks great now, but once you are on your own and are faced with all the responsibilities that go along with it, then it's a different story. ( It's a lot harder to come back once you realize maybe it was too soon...)
I think you should enjoy your birthday with friends and family, make the most of it, you're only 18 once, right!
Good luck!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

You need to make sure that you have a job, a way to get back and forth, as well as be able to provide for your necessities like gas, electric, phone, insurance, groceries, rent, etc. while you are on your own.
Make sure you have furniture for your new place. Bed, dresser, table, sofa are some necessities.

first of all make sure you can support yourself. no point in moving out and having to come back tail between the legs, plan carefully and make sure you really are ready to go solo.
