Do people use it for the wrong reasons? And why do some people use it in a negative way? Some people use it TOO MUCH and it doesn't seem to have the "strenght" it used to have.

It has long since served it's purpose as a tool to unite South Africans of all colours.Apart from overcoming the horrors of Apartheid then it begs the question exactly what are you proud of? It cannot be the beauty of the Country since humans had nothing to do with that so exactly what contribution have South Africans made to the World that make them so proud.Personally I feel it is a sort of an insecurity at being second best and the more it is thrown in your face the more arrogant it sounds and the more it will produce a negative response. Let me put it another way- Have you met a humble South African of late?

It is definitely not an overused expression to be proud of your Country. I recently went to South Africa, strangely enough, even though the high crime rate and high poverty level, the people seem happy and courteous and I can not wait to go back. I was living in Zimbabwe as a young girl, and still have a brother there and a brother and sister in Kempton Park and Krugersdorp , South Africa. They are very happy there.

Why do we have to say that we are proud South Africans?
Why dont people already believe that we are?
