The Red Sox had the catcher Javy Lopez and a pitcher named Javier Lopez .... Javy is the nickname for Javier. But, they dropped the catcher Javy.

Yeah, its happening in LPGA(golf) too. There are so many Asians with last name Kim, one of them changed her name to Birdie Kim to seperate herself.
