I found a neat 1860 census entry:
1860 Indiana, Morgan, Green Twp:
(Name, age, occupation, value of real property, value of personal property, birthplace)
John E. Greer, 33, Farmer, 3,500, 1,000, Kentucky
Margaret M, 27, Domestic, Indiana
Elizabeth, 10, Indiana <<<
William, 8, Indiana
Joseph G, 6, Indiana
David P, 6, Indiana
Lucy [middle initial L or C], 2
George Petit, 20, Farm Laborer, Indiana <<<
Elizabeth there, the 10-year old in 1860, marries a George Petit in August of 1866. The George she marries was born in 1840 in Indiana, served four years in the 26th Indiana Volunteer Infantry and mustered out in February of 1866. I can't prove this is the same one, but skinny 11-year olds (she was born in 1849) have been known to blossom, and 26-year old veterans have been known to visit old friends and employers after the war. The faded blue uniform he wore when he got off the train probably didn't hurt.
Whichever George she married, they stayed married for 59 years, until 1925, when George died.

Rumour had it, but I only confirmed it when I researched my family tree, that my great great grandfather emigrated to canada in 1880, and my great grandfather was born there, but he returned with his son, my great grandfather, in 1882 cos his wife and daughter died. Maybe not so very exciting, but interesting all the same.

That one of my ancestors founded Pennsylvania.USA. He left Oxton in Nottinghamshire in the 1600's. After he had done that, one of his grandsons was hung for stealing a pig.
