because, leprechaunism is a rare genetic mutation mainly afflicting rich jewish people of Ireland. The mutant gene is carried by the Y chromosome, and only manifests it's self in males, females are a carrier for the mutant gene. The mutation is responsible for making them magic.

That is a fabulous question...here's my theory.
Have you ever seen a leprechaun...they're pretty ugly...and women are too beautiful to be something as not so cute as a leprechaun!
or, its some weird underhanded way of society telling us that men are the keepers of money and that a woman would be unable to gaurd it.
