First of all, everything is a chemical. There may be many poisonous chemicals, but everything is a chemical. Farmers put fertilizers on their fields to make the plants grow better. When this washes off to any degree it causes a water pollution called eutification which kills water organisms from the lack of oxygen. Fertilizer can be used in a bomb too. Many industrial wastes should be put in a secure landfill so they will not harm the environment. But we need to remember that water , our food, our medicines etc are all chemicals and in the wrong amounts could harm us.
