the same way the Jesus is a myth is the same way the holocaust didn't happen. Just because someone says that it's true doesn't mean it. If historians told you that your family was originally a different race but interbreeded with other races and now you belive that you're totally the opposite, would you belive them. no. you're stuck on the belief that you were raised on and you won't change that just because some tightlegged bookworm tells you so. it's dumb and i don't appreciate the bash on religions. historians don't make beliefs and they won't change mine. Have your fun while it lasts but no scientific evidence can describe how earth began. there are serious wrinkles in the evolutionary theory and therefore cannot be considered the absolute way of creation. Thankyou very much for your time.
Blessed Be.

Jesus was likely a real person, though you're right that lots of stuff ascribed to Jesus were just copies of Mithraism. That's because when christians were trying to convert people to their religion their technique was to take the existing belief system and make it apply to Jesus.
Thus Mithras' birthday on Dec 25 became Christmas. Mithras' death and resurrection 3 days later became Jesus'.
Although Christians don't want to think about it, this stuff points to something bigger. Humanity has worshipped the same archtype since WAY before Jesus came along. I think these questions should be in the mythology section, or all questions about mythology should be in Religion & Spirituality

Holy Pixie Dust! It’s Mithra Behind the Mask!
No, please don't let Brother and Sister Christian play in the playground of mythology and folklore! We're having way too much fun!
I understand how you're getting excited about your Jesus-Mithra connection. Now, now, buddy, there's a whole lot more tasty morsels out there, if you only know where to look. You’ll be richly rewarded (in knowledge, of course). And I wouldn’t share my toys too openly if I were you!
I'm not going to waste my time giving my evidence citing whether Jesus was a myth, or not. But the more I read Jesus' own words in the Gospels, the more convicted I am that Jesus' ideas (and life too) were not inspired exclusively by his own Jewish faith. Jesus spoke like a man who knew certain ancient texts, symbols and prayers that belonged to religions that predated Judaism. I shall not give examples, for that would be too much fun for Brother and Sister Christian, wouldn't it? Let's just say the references and similarities are striking – and some are even alien to the Jewish style of spirituality.
Will our caped hero survive The MythSmith’s deadly game – or will our city be turned into Mithra myth? Tune in next week, true believers!

I've always thought Jesus was a myth. There is actually little evidence of his existence. Apart from the New Testament, he is not mentioned in any historic records -- in an age when there were many historians and philosophers. Jesus story is strangely similar to that of Socrates, whose existence is also questionable, since he is only mentioned in the writings of Plato. Everything in the New Testament that Jesus is quoted as saying had already been said -- read the Upanishads, Dhammapada, and the Tao Te Ching and see.

The Wiki article does not say Jesus is a fantasy. what's provided interior the object is a thought stepped forward with the help of a undeniable Strauss on the subject of the historic actuality of Jesus. One good evidence of Jesus as a historic determine are the archaeological findings collectively with Qumran scrolls. There are others. Denials of the historic existence of Jesus have often been tried. notwithstanding, NON-CHRISTIAN sources attest to the historic existence of Jesus. The statements of Tacitus around 117 (Annales XV,40 4), of Pliny the extra youthful around 112/113 (letter to the emperor Trajan), and of Suetonius around a hundred and twenty (Vita Claudis, ch. 25) are good and traditionally conclusive and we could admit them as user-friendly info. The Catholic Church additionally own statements with the help of the Jewish author Josephus Flavius from around ninety 3/ninety 4 which permit us to settle for his expertise of the historic character of Jesus. as far as i'm in contact, the appropriate evidence that Jesus is authentic is the undeniable fact that he solutions my prayers. Peace and each blessing!
