Whether or not you have another child is just down to you and your partner to decide on.

Each child is an individual and you get absolutely no guarantees when they arrive. All you can do is love each one and do your best as a parent. So why not nature take it's course? If another child is to be, then it will happen. I am sure your daughter's life will be enriched by having brothers and sisters.

If you are worried that another child could be born blind then ask your doctors about your daughter's condition and if it could affect another child.

Work out some practicalities could you cope? Can you get extra financial aid from the government and extra support and help from friends and relations?

Good luck

Why would you consider not having another child. My twin brother is blind and has mental retardation but he is still awsome. It really depends on why your child went blind. I doubt that if you have another on that he or she will also be blind. And just because you daughter is blind does not mean that she is not normal and can not play or develop a relationship with a new sibling. If anything having another child may help your daugher in the future. They can be there for each other. I mean one day when something happens to you or your husband (or whomever) wouldn't it be a good idea to have someone who can help your first born if she needs it. Not out of guilt but because they love thier sister. I mean it is really weird because I have never thought of there being something "wrong" with my brother. That is just how he is and I love him all the same. Now I am sure having a blind child can add a bit more stress to the situation and if you do not feel that you can handle two children that is up to you regardless if your daughter had been born blind or not. And just in case you were interested my twin brother and I both suffer from a condition called Retinopathy of Prematurity. That and the excessive amounts of oxygen they gave my brother to keep him alive caused him to be the way he is. And a bit of advice don't listen to the bozo that says someone can "heal" your daugher. I do however believe that doctors can sometimes do amazing things. My freshman year in college I started going blind in my left eye and had to withdraw from school. Luckily (well I think it was more the skill of the doctor) they reattached my retina. I also have a little brother! I would not trade either of them for the world! Hope this helps. Later!

No one can tell you to or not to have another baby. I have a 6 1/2 month old baby and a 3 1/2 year old daughter. I know as a mother that you love your 14 month old baby and I am sure it is not easy raising her but you love her dearly and that is what is important. If you both are ready for another baby and think you can handle the challenges that you will have to deal with them embrace the baby you have and try for another. It does not mean that the next will be blind or have handicaps. Be a proud Mom/Dad and strive for what you want.

Aw, it is unquestionably one of those candy letter. It relatively does sound like your daughter is differnt from maximum pregnant females your age! i think of you and your loved ones could communicate realistically approximately what might happen if she stored the toddler. What might you anticipate out of your daughter and her boyfriend, and what might you and something of the family contributors be prepared to do to help. i think of that's a concern which you do no longer % to stress her into making a determination she does not could make. If she has an abortion or provides the toddler up for adoption, it may desire to be some thing that haunts her for something of her life. despite if, if she is going to maintain the toddler the it must be very sparkling that there will be expectancies. you is basically no longer elevating the toddler... she/they're going to (with a bit of luck with your help). i do no longer think of that a 14 year previous could be a mom the two yet i think of that if she has the remarkable intentions then she would be able to enhance into the placement. She'll % assorted help and preparation yet whilst her heart is interior the remarkable place then i've got confidence that she would be the desirable mom she would be. have you ever watched the MTV practice "sixteen and pregnant"? If no longer, it may desire to be a competent practice for the two certainly one of you to observe. If follows youthful females via their being pregnant and the 1st few weeks of start and the girls variety from 15-17 frequently. a number of the episodes practice females/couples who've chosen adoption and something are females who've had the toddlers. It relatively exhibits the fact of having youngsters that youthful and the particularly some females relatively do a competent interest, and others conflict plenty extra. despite you adult males determine, it is going to be a determination that she is delicate with, yet additionally a concern which you and her family contributors are delicate with as she remains on your care and you'd be financially to blame for the toddler. good luck and stay advantageous. it is going to all paintings out interior the tip.

I would say wait a little, just so you have more time to deal with the challeges of a blind toddler.
I think having a child that requires that much more attention help and stimulation, and i assume appointments for classes would be better served if you waited until she started school. Whether its pre school or whatever.

if your scared about the next one being blind also, i would be too. but, obviously you are good enough parents to want to take on the challenge of parenting more children with an already diabled child. i think that if you feel ready and capable of having more, why not? that's what human beings do, and someone like you need to recognized for providing your child with what he/she needs instead of some of these parents who are so dependant on welfare and still have 5,6,7 kids...you're asking for advice, which means you are very courageous and a well balanced individual. good luck with this and i wish you the best.

Oh my god, let me just say that I think youre very loving and strong for raising a blind child and considering having another which can have the same disability. The fact that you WANT another one shows how much of a good parent you are. I can't really say that you SHOULD have one ... thats between you and your husband.
Good luck!

Honestly I would say talk to your doctor. Our last daughter has cerebral palsy and we really wanted to try for a boy (we currently have been blessed with three daughters) but our concern was what if the same thing happened again? The doctor can give you some insight, but you and your husband have to decide if your next baby has the same problem can you handle it? Our philosophy on this one (we just found out today we're expecting) is that if he/she does have issues, they've just been blessed in a different way than the rest. Good luck to you and good luck in making a choice that's right for you!!

If you want another baby go for it. I dont think the fact that she is blind should push you in the direction of not having any more kids if you truly want another one.
