No it's not your fault silly! Maybe he got scared off, maybe he just liked the fantasy, maybe he was intimidated at the thought of meeting you or he was insecure! I wouldn't lose sleep over it!

He may have gotten cold feet. Texts are easy to send for someone who is shy. Many men have a fear of rejection. He apparently finds you attractive. If you like him, text him back and be as accepting and inviting as you can. If you don't like him, be honest with him.
