On September 14, 2006, Dog Chapman was arrested at the request of the Mexican government to be extradited to Mexico to face charges of "Deprivation of Liberty". The charges stem from Chapman's capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster , a convicted rapist, on June 18, 2003 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Chapman's capture of Luster - a serial rapist - catapulted the bounty hunter to fame and led to the reality series on the A&E channel. Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.
Chapman, his son, and business partner, as of September 14, 2006, are in custody in Honolulu and bail has not been set. They will be held in Honolulu Police Department for 3 days. If convicted, they could spend up to 8 years in jail. They will face an extradition hearing to Mexico under terms of treaties between the U.S. and Mexico. Charges have been pending against the three since local police in Mexico arrested them shortly after they roped in Luster. They posted bail but never returned to Puerto Vallarta for their court hearing on July 15, 2003.
Luster is now in jail in the U.S. serving a 124-year term.

He found and retrieved a fugitive (who was being charged with child molestation) from Mexico. Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico.
The Dog is being charged with unlawful restraint and bounty hunting.
Question? If the Dog could find and bring back this fugitive from justice why couldn't the Mexican authorities do it? Perhaps not enough grease on the palm?

Whew, for a moment I thought he seriously broke the law, but his tactics are being questioned by a rich person.
While I don't agree with all the space bounty hunters get, I hope Dog gets a fair trial.

He went to arrest Andrew Luster in Mexico way back in 2003 and he did. So, when he returned in US.A. in Honolulu in 6 a.m. he got arrested from some stupid mexican cops! Becuz by law in Mexico bounty hunters are not allowed and by this freakin' law he could not arrest anyone. So he got arrested becuz he arrested someone else in another country apperantly Mexico where there BOUNTY HUNTER are not allowed. Get it?
And he didn't steal anything form that guy or his stupid factory!
I think its totally not fair! Becuz that's his job and its legal in America!
Mexican law is so stupid by far. I think that somebody paid to arrest him becuz they were just mad.
That's all the story

in 2003, dog chapman and his crew tracked and caught the serial rapist andrew luster.
they caught him in mexico. the fbi/american consulate had the same leads that mr. chapman had, but the apparently didn't feel like it was a strong enough lead to go on.
so dog got the bad guy. the problem is that in mexico, bounty hunting is a criminal offense, and that is why they arrested him and dragged him all the way back there.
