oh no honey they are hereditary....there is nothing you can do to prevent them chances are if your mother had them you will, but I do say 'chances are', however you can get things to minimize the appearance of them, talk to your doctor. Also if you do get them do me a favor, wear them proud you have been given the gift opportunity to be able to create life.....a blessing that many do not get. When you look at your child, it will all disappear. My children are the light of my life and I do not regret any thing about having them

I have found creams to be useless. I have had 2 children and am 5 days overdue with the 3rd. I had no stretch marks with the 1st as I was very small with hardly any weight gain...the 2nd however was a nightmare. I had excessive weight gain and had stretch marks even though I had tried every cream under the sun! They have faded over the years and now with my 3rd I have watched my weight carefully and have not got any new ones which i'm soooo happy about. I didn't use creams this time either. I honestly think that the trick is to limit how much weight you gain and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Stretch marks are truly genetic, and though you can [revent some using specilised creams (such as by Medela), you cannot prevent the underlying reason for stretch marks: disruption ofthe underlying fatty layer and collagen renewal that correlates to this separation.

There are tactics to prevent great amounts of skin damage, however.

1. Moisturise! (Medela products, pure cocao products, etc.)
2. Wear a tummy protector/back supporter
3. Moderate weight gain
4. Weat a post-partum tummy and back supporter/condensor
5. Post-partum and pre-natal wearing of diabetic nylons.

I havd stretch marks only after pregnancy on my tummy and legs mainly due to the water and saline retention (from the IV) which pooled in my legs. Awful. Could have been prevented by wearing supportive diabetic nylons th efirst 4 weeks post-partum.

Don't let this happen to you!

Keeping your skin really moisturized on a daily basis is the main key. Some people really like the cocoa butter stretch mark lotion but I couldn't use it when I was preggo because the smell was too strong & made me nauseated. I used Bath & Body Work's body cream (cream is better than the lotion). You can use whatever scent you like the best. The natural fruit oils that is used in them work really good in my opinion. I have 4 children & have very few stretch marks, even with gaining about 50 lbs with each pregnancy. Good luck and congrats!

Im 4 months prego--since i was 2 months i started buying "cocoa butter--belly butter" its to reduce and prevent stretchmarks--I apply it 2 times a day--in the mornign before i leave for work--and like 1 hour before i go to bed. I have noticed that my belly is always moisturized--right about now i feel my belly itches a bit--but i dont scratch i just rub it with my fingers and everyone tells me to continue doing that thru out my pregnancy and i wont have any stretchmarks...first baby...so dont know if it will help.
oh yeah also watch what u eat--u dont want to gain weight too fast either that will also help prevent.

Lotion up in the morning at night after showers when you feel like you have an itch!! And don't scratch if you do rub in a circular motion!! I'm 8 1/2 months and i don't have none on my big belly so it's worked so far lol!! Good Luck and Congrats!!

It all depends on your skin type... I put coco butter on my tummy when I was pregnant religously... still i have stretch marks from my pelvis to the high point in my rib cage.. best thing that you can do is put on weight gradually rather then quickly. Most women think getting pregnat gives you the right to eat for two.. i did. I put on 60 lbs. I thikn weight control is the best way to manage stretch marks. As for me when I am done having babies... I will be off to get a tummy tuck... I want all this extra stuff gone!!! LOL.. good luck!

I really don't believe there is anything that you can use. It's all a waste of money.
If you don't have stretch marks on your breast then there is a good chance you will not get them at all. Unfortunately I had them there already.
3 out 4 of my girlfriends didn't have stretch marks on there breast's & had none during pregency (They also gained 20+ Kilos). 1 did & she had stretch marks on her breasts from teenage years.
Hope this helps. Goodluck. Its all worth it stretch marks & all!!

There's not much you can do about them. But they do have stretch mark cream. I use it and I am due next month. My tummy don't look too bad after 2 kids, and 8 months preggers! It smells pretty good, anyways, and it makes your skin SO soft! Try it, you'll like it.
