Not the meaning of the word but why do men use it so blatantly. When ever a women does something that a man does not like they always call women a whore. Used completley out of context.
Out of interest I would like to know the word for the male equivalent?
And no, no-one has called me a whore, but I did hear a guy screaming that at his wife in the supermarket earlier this week. What a spectacle.

Well to be brutly honest, it is not just men who use words out of context. For example, in one of the answers to this question, a female called the men who do what you say " assholes ". Well for what that word means calling them that will be out of context. To get really down to it , it is a lack of respect in the world. Resect should start with ourselfs. For instance the man that was calling his wife that name. He most likely doesn't respect himself enough to keep himself from looking lilke a total loser in public. All goes back to the Bible. " Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you "

I have a strong hate for this type of thing. My most gut wretching hate is for when a man says this about you but doesn t even know you. Someone you have had no or any contact with, have never even spoke to him,concentrated,or even been face to face with him. What gives,it s like your their focus like they know you but dont. This is more disturbing to me then it would be if my boyfriend or husband would say it to my face. This is to me creepy and unnatural. Should I be concerned that this man could do me bodily harm. This happens even if you have a boyfriend,or husband. They do it sutely to but can use a word that associated the fact that they are talking about you,such as maybe an item of clothing that you wore that day, or a hairstyle you may have had that day, even your skin tone could be mentioned. Sad f a c3r is you can t report it because you need more proof that it s you they are talking about. It s sad that there are people like this in the world but it s unfair that someone innocent has to take responsibility for their stinking behavior. I ve had this problem with black males not with white males. And they are usually of a so called ghetto lifestyle. Some not all. I just don t like it, should be none of their business what I do or don t do. Makes me physically ill.

Actually a whore is a whore is a whore... it doesn't matter on the gender.
I would suspect that the guy just found out that his wife was sleeping around.
I've heard some guys say that a whore is someone who sleeps around while they are sleeping with me and a **** is someone who sleeps around but won't sleep with me.

They like to use that word to insult a woman. If a man puts it about, he is a hero, if a woman does it, she is a whore, slag etc. It is all wrong, but that`s the way it goes. If my hubby screamed that at me in the supermarket, i`d disable his "bits" for life, some men are just pigs!!!

Some men need to feel in control. When they are upset, they need to strike back.....some are verbally abusive, others just rude. I would assume calling a woman a whore is a way of trying to belittle her or insult her. It would be like calling her fat (rather she is or isn't). It would be aimed at causing insecurity or guilt. Typical word games people often play when in the heat of an argument (unfortunately).

The man who called his wife a whore is a male whore and an as- hole!! That should set it about right-since he has no respect for the Lady he was with-also just plain stupid! It's just a retarded double standard. Society has tons of them. I think that as long as people are responsible, their sex lives should be of no concern to others whom are not involved. btw, I have a very romantic/emotional side, BUT I also don't mind admitting I'm a HUGE perv. See no reason not to be, if this life might be all we have. I like women who share that philosophy......... IF they also have intellect and maturity. When I call someone a '****', it usually includes their personality also. Not mere promiscuity. I hate shallow catty gossipy airhead bimbos. The types who USE sex to manipulate people and really care for noone but themselves.

I've never called a woman a whore to her face (that sounds worse doesn't it) but its just because its probably one of the most hurtful things you can think of men will call other men c u next tuesdays and mother fcukers because they are the most offensive things they can. women also tend to call men bar stewards quite often which seems to be their equivalent insult
